Project Gudiya is a unique Project of the Rohit Memorial Trust (RMT), which was conceived with the idea to promote therapeutic healing for pediatric cancer patients. It is known that children get a lot of comfort and happiness in clutching on to toys especially when they are undergoing some stressful situation or during medical treatment for cancer and other ailments.
The Project uses stuffed toys in various animal shapes like fish, tortoises, giraffes, elephants, etc. which are made at Sampoorna – a NGO for differently abled women. The toys are washable and are made using very good quality materials:
It is found that the fish shaped toys are providing relief to patients suffering from neck pain and upper back pain, and are being used on a trial basis by a few doctors.
The Trust has associated with Sampoorna, founded and run by Ms. Satya, in order to help these physically challenged women find their feet and generate their own livelihood expenses. The Trust helps them to market their stuffed toys, home cleaning solutions, delicious snacks and other items made at the centre.
